Good Website typography helps a designer to establish effective visual hierarchy and provides good visual punctuation as well as graphic accents. Website typography helps online readers to connect the text with images without any hassle.
Brand Typography is a visual element of brand style guide, or brand book, that arranges your business's Website in a legible way and aligns your messaging with your brand. Limiting the number of font families to a minimum, two is plenty, one is often sufficient and stay with the same ones through the entire Website is a good practice. If you do use more than one font, ensure the font families complement each other based on their character width.
The Google Web Font service is a free depository of hundreds of fonts, all available to use for free on the web, through Open Source Licensing. The platform first launched in 2010 that revolutionised the way type could be used on the web. Designers & developers were no longer limited to a handful of web safe fonts which could be found on the users’ machine. The fonts are updated with multiple languages supported by the fonts in the library.
Roboto is a web-safe font used by Google for its Android devices and for Google services. It was initially created by Google designer Christian Robertson as a replacement for Android’s previous Droid font. Roboto’s clean appearance makes it a popular choice among graphic designers.
Alegreya is a typeface originally intended for literature. A beautiful elegant font designed by Juan Pablo del Peral. It was created with print in mind, with its quill-like appearance, especially suited for more sophisticated designs that require a classic touch. Among its crowning characteristics, it conveys a dynamic and varied rhythm which facilitates the reading of long texts.
Lato is a distinctive sans serif font designed by Adam Twardoch, Botio Nikoltchev, and Lukasz Dziedzic. Lato means “summer” in Polish and is one of Google Fonts’ most-used typefaces for body text. It’s a clean and professional font that comes in 18 different weights.
Montserrat was created by renowned graphic designer Julieta Ulanovsky. Montserrat is now a staple among designers because of its versatility and wide range of weiights. It comes in 36 different styles, from thin to black, and corresponding italics.
Poppins is a geometric font designed by Jonny Pinhorn and Ninad Kale that has become a designer favorite due to its sleek appearance and minimal aesthetic. It’s an excellent font for bold headlines and titles and looks great with a contrasting background.
Futura was created by Isabella Chaeva, Paul Renner, Vladimir Andrich, and Vladimir Yefimov and is among the most widely used fonts in graphic design. Nike, Domino’s Pizza, and Volkswagen have all used Futura in some capacity, proving it's a versatile font that works for various products and services.
Ubuntu was designed by Dalton Maag design studio to enable the personality seen and felt in every menu, button and dialog. This sans-serif typeface uses OpenType features, and is manually hinted for clarity on desktop and mobile computing screens.
Truculenta is an irregular sans serif typeface based on mid-century lettering works, yet with a little twist. This quirky grotesque is a variable font with three axes (weight, width and optical size), allowing a wide range of text sizes without losing readability. This vibrant typeface is highly suitable for packaging, branding, book covers, illustrated editions, and film titles.

Archivo is a grotesque sans serif typeface family originally designed for highlights and headlines. This family is reminiscent of late nineteenth century American typefaces. The technical and aesthetic characteristics of the font are both crafted for high performance typography.
